The Quo Vadis forest will consist mainly of Acacia Senegal, and Moringa Oleifera but also species such as the Acacia Sieberiana, Acacia Laeta…
The Acacia Senegal allows the harvest of gum arabic, which can be resold at a very handsome price. The gum arabic is used in the food industry but also in cosmetics. Its harvest starts when the tree is 4-5 years old. Moringa Oleifera has a very fast growth and its leaves have food values higher than many other fruits and vegetables. It is called the miracle tree.
The conditions in Sahel are excellent for these trees and make Niger a place of choice for developing these species. In fact, the Acacia Senegal and Moringa Oleifera are perhaps the future of Niger. Today, the country makes a big effort to allow the reintroduction and the culture of these two species.
