After having studied Forest engineering at the university of Niamey, Dr. Ichaou supplemented his research at the University of Agronomy of Montpellier. Now specialized in Agroforesterie it directed successfully hundreds of projects of various sizes and can be pleased to have stopped the turning into a desert on many sites in Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso.
The INRAN is an organization recommended by the French CIRAD (Center of International cooperation in Agronomic research for the Development) and regularly deals with missions of forest protection.
Boubabcar Abdou, Technician of National Forestry Commission, is the person in charge of seedbed for Tree-Nation. He takes care of the supply seeds as well as installation of the seedbeds and their follow-up.
The quality and the origin of seeds are a crucial factor for future harvests. In particular for the Senegal Acacia, it is essential to obtain seeds which will make it possible to produce much gum arabic.
Until now we use the seedbeds of the INRAN located in Niamey and Bonkoukou. We profit thus from all the material and the infrastructure necessary as well as auxiliary technicians in charge of daily maintenance and watering.
